Recovering From Surgery

Depending on the type and complexity of any given surgery, recovery may be difficult and oftentimes painful. Chances are if you have a surgery, you will have some complications and many times, the complications are far more serious than the original disease. Pain, fever, constipation, and nausea are commonplace. There is also the risk of infection, anemia, pulmonary collapse and others.

I recently had a major surgery. I was on the table for 10 hours and had 3 units of blood transfused over 2 separate operations. Briefly, the first operation was to remove a rare, non-malignant tumor (called a schwannoma) from a large nerve passing through my spine between disks L2 and L3. The tumor had completely enveloped my aorta and displaced some organs on my left side. However, the real damage was done to my L2 disk, as the tumor had eaten roughly 40% of it away. The tumor had to be removed; the nerve resected (removed); my eleventh rib was removed to use as donor material; and a titanium cage (a two-piece adjustable apparatus) was inserted in the missing space of my disk - filled with the crushed rib bone (which will fuse to the disks above and below through the open ends of the cage). The second operation was to insert titanium screws and rods to hold the whole thing together. The rods are pinned into the two vertebrae above and the two below L2, essentially fusing all five of them together.

Thankfully and gratefully, the surgeons did an absolutely perfect job. Now, all I have to do is heal for the next 6-9 months and I’ll be almost as good as new. Once I got out of the hospital (a grueling nine day stay), my recovery from surgery has proceeded much better than anticipated.

I was walking seven days after the operation (with a walker in the hospital). My incisions are healing wonderfully. Even the complications (partially collapsed left lung, distention and hypertension of my abdomen, fluid pocket below the lung, high blood pressure, low sodium in my blood, and a very high white blood count) were all healed enough to where I was not bothered by any of them within 2 weeks after the operation. I was walking up and down stairs by the beginning of the third week. Now at the one month mark, I am able to sit up and work for several hours at the computer as well as handle the stairs and walk a third of the way down the block and back without a walker or cane.

I still have to wear a brace for about one more month, but I have been able to put it on myself for almost 2 weeks already. My in home care people (nurse, physical therapist and occupational therapist) all made the minimum number of visits (the PT and OT only came twice and the nurse was required to come three times) because of the noticeable improvement between their visits. I don’t even take my pain medications on a regular schedule anymore (I’m only taking 2 of the four that were originally prescribed) –  I’m missing a full dose each day because I don’t need as much anymore. I can actually feel myself getting stronger every day.

How am I attaining such positive and accelerated results? I started a regimen that includes several types of energy healing, PATHS, self healer spray and cream, healthy eating and drinking, lots of prayers, a healthy attitude and sheer determination that I instilled in myself several months before my operation.

After my collapse, and initial shock and pain, I made a conscious decision that my sole purpose was to get better. I focused on the things that made me feel good and happy (my wife, my son, my hobbies, my dreams, etc.). By doing so, and eliminating as much negativity from my life as possible, I was able to maintain a pretty good, positive outlook.

I’ve been eating and drinking healthier than the vast majority of the population for about a decade now. My wife and I eat mostly organic vegetables, free range meats and poultry, bottled and filtered water, no fast food – we haven’t even owned a microwave for over eight years now. My wife even brought in healthy food to the hospital for me so I wouldn’t have to eat hospital food.

In addition to the physical and emotional mind-set things that I could control, it is clear to me that I could not have made such incredible progress without help.  It was truly heart-warming when I learned of all the people who said they were praying for me. Never underestimate the power of prayer – especially collective prayer.

What I believe to be the foundation on which all the other regimens (diet, self heal products, prayer, etc) are built upon. PATHS (Program Authoring The Human Subconscious) utilizes a unique, proprietary technology, Rapid Data Transfer (RDT) , to safely deliver positive, beneficial instructions to your subconscious mind. Each topic, or module, that you wish to address sends millions of positive messages, creating healthy habits and ways of thinking. PATHS also works on a physical level in which instructions tell your body to heal and repair as necessary.

You see our subconscious minds control 95% of our bodily function. Many of these functions – breathing, heart rate, pain receptors, etc. – are not usually in our conscious thoughts. In other words, we don’t have to make an effort to think about these things, our subconscious minds take care of all this for us, similar to a machine being on autopilot. One of the many processes our subconscious minds deals with is the healing and repair of sick, diseased or damaged body parts. The repair work is mostly done when we are sleeping. That is why it is so important to get a good night’s rest every night.

Unfortunately, there is a small problem with the whole process. Over our lifetimes, we learn certain ways of behavior and eventually, continuously repeating that behavior, our subconscious learns to recognize these behaviors as acceptable – even if they are detrimental. That is why people develop habits (whether bad or good), quirks, eccentricities and disorders. Instead of helping a situation get better, your subconscious mind persists in the learned, now accepted, behavior, even if it causes us harm in some form.

People try to change all the time – hence the billions of dollars being poured into weight loss, anti smoking, drinking, and drug addiction, depression and self esteem, just to name a few topics many people have struggles with. It is also why there are so many successful self help gurus and programs out there.

These programs do not sell solutions; they sell the hope of a possible solution. However, in the majority of the population those hopes are never realized. The reason is because they cannot overcome the entrenched behavioral patterns in their subconscious minds. They are actually being sabotaged by themselves, most of the time without even being aware what is happening. Consciously, we think of doing the right thing, but our subconscious is what is really controlling us.

But, if you could tell your subconscious to think and perform in a constructive, positive manner you can overcome these, and many other, issues much more easily. PATHS is usually more effective than meditation, prayer, daily affirmations, self help tapes and the like by themselves. However, if you are using any these, PATHS can help make them more effective. Additionally, if you are receiving any energy healing, PATHS accentuates and accelerates the healing processes of these modalities as well.

I started using PATHS almost a year ago. During that time, I was getting safe, beneficial instructions to help my body function and perform better in terms of muscle repair and building, immune system boost and stress reduction. A couple of months before my operation, I added modules to help with healthy lung function, skin repair, an anti aging module and some others to make sure I had myself covered and as strong as possible, especially since I was disabled in many ways prior to surgery for almost 6 months. Afterwards, I added a cellular health module, a pain module, and the sports and nutrition module (to help with muscle, tendon and cartilage repair).

I am convinced that by including the PATHS modules, my recovery has definitely gone much better than anticipated by myself and my doctors. Additionally, because of my association with PATHS and many people who are using PATHS, I was able to learn of some other helpful products and healing modalities I mentioned earlier.

For instance, Self-Healer spray and cream are products that help accelerate the body’s natural healing processes, much like PATHS, but on a purely physical energetic level, rather than on a mental (or subconscious) energetic one. However, the spray actually works in tandem with PATHS (as do other modalities) so I can achieve better and faster results. This is just one of product that is complimentary in the process of using PATHS.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention some extraordinary people, who gave of themselves, their time, energy, and expertise to help me. I am eternally grateful to them all. I met these wonderful people through my association with PATHS and the Energetic Forum. I had one person working on me with Matrix Energetics and Theta Healing; another has been making corrections with Chinese Energetic Medicine (CEM); and yet a third who was kind enough to include me in his SCIO work. These are but a few of the many forms of energy healing available to anyone who wishes to seek them out.

Whether you, or someone you know, is planning on having a surgery, or is now recovering from one, I sincerely urge you to explore these options I have discussed in this article. I am truly convinced that PATHS, combined with the rest, and positive thoughts and support, has made it possible for me to recover so well and so quickly and it can do the same for you or someone you know.
